April 6th dawned rainy and cold but that did not stop over 425 runners and walkers of all ages, who came together to participate in the 37th Annual FOCA Cambridge CityRun/Walk 5k and the 20th Annual Andrea Harvey Memorial Walk around Fresh Pond.  We are so grateful to all the sponsors who were a part of this joyous community event.  Your sponsorship is part of a pool of $18,750 we have for student scholarships and team grants for the 2025-2026 athletic season.  While CRLS covers their 42 sports teams’ basic necessities so that students do not pay to participate, FOCA grants give the teams the breathing room to excel by helping fund such requests as special coaches and pre-season trainers, electronic equipment and practice machines, and team travel uniforms and bags.

Your sponsorship also sent the Cambridge Community a clear message of support and partnership.  As racers started and ended the race they were greeted by an impressive receiving line of 25 sponsor signs, each one celebrating the commitment of our sponsors to their Cambridge community.  In his opening remarks, Vice Mayor McGovern read a proclamation from Mayor Simmons acknowledging the “generous contributions” of the many sponsors and applauding “The spirit of the FOCA CityRun is not only reflected in the athleticism of the runners and walkers but also in the broader message of inclusivity, collaboration, and civic pride that this event embodies year after year.”  Thank you for being an essential part of FOCA Cambridge CityRun’s success and a vital part of our community.
