Do you have, or know, a student athlete playing the winter season? Do you want to support athletes at CRLS? Do you want to meet other caregivers and help build community across the teams and within Cambridge? If so, Zoom in and learn about the Friends of Cambridge Athletics (FOCA) on Tuesday December 13th, 6pm – 7.30pm (Zoom details below). 

FOCA is a volunteer, parent-led non-profit organization supporting CRLS athletic teams and clubs, through collaboration with the Athletic Director, coaches, PE and Health staff and other school and city leaders.

FOCA is currently looking for team liaisons for the winter sports teams – caregivers or friends of athletes who will support the students and the coaches, and caregivers. The role is a collaboration between the coach and the liaison, requires no minimum time commitment and is a great way to be engaged in the school. At the meeting, we will also be discussing event ideas, to raise funds and/or build community, and share updates on other FOCA initiatives.

FOCA is a volunteer, parent-led non-profit organization supporting CRLS athletic teams and clubs, through collaboration with the Athletic Director, coaches, PE andHealth staff and other school and city leaders.

FOCA is looking to reengage the Community so that we can support the sports teams more actively, now that the schools have opened up to the Community again. We are looking for interested individuals to help reshape FOCA’s mission, goals and activities. If you have ideas and opinions about ways to support the sports teams, or specific skills that you would like to put to good use (e.g. web-building skills, event management, fundraising, knowledge of businesses in the community), please join us to learn more!

Friends of Cambridge Athletics (FOCA) and the Andrea Harvey Memorial Fund (AHMF), both registered 501(c)3s, are the beneficiaries of this cherished Cambridge event.

About Friends of Cambridge Athletics (FOCA)
FOCA collaborates with the CRLS Athletics Department, PE/Health staff and city leaders, serving as a booster club (and fiscal conduit), fundraising for teams, providing grants for equipment, training and travel and by offering scholarships to graduating seniors.

About Andrea Harvey Memorial Fund (AHMF)
AHMF honors the memory of Andrea Harvey, a CRLS Alumna by educating and raising awareness about domestic violence and providing scholarships for college-bound CRLS seniors in her name, as well as Les Kimbrough, a long time educator and Dean of Students at CRLS.

We will be offering a variety of beverages, fancy-schmancy hors d’oeuvres, 50/50 Raffle, Silent Auction and great company!

Proceeds benefit the FOCA Development Fund and will support athletic endeavors at CRLS through grants to teams. The raffle this season is a 50/50 (the winner will get 50% of the raffle proceeds – you must be present to win)! All guests are also eligible for a fabulous MYSTERY door prize and can bid on Silent Auction Items.

33rd Annual 5K Cambridge City Run Returns to Fresh Pond

Join/Support the 33rd Annual Cambridge City Run/Walk 4/7/19 @ 9AM – Please attend/support this annual community event attracting hundreds of runners/walkers from Cambridge, surrounding communities and CRLS sports teams.  CRLS Athletes through Friends of Cambridge Athletics (FOCA) are the lead beneficiaries with proceeds supporting student scholarships and the needs of athletic teams. FOCA is coordinating the event with Marathon Sports and The Andrea Harvey Fund with some proceeds supporting their scholarships awards program and domestic violence awareness (Andrea was a CRLS graduate and East Boston High teacher). The Race will take place entirely within Fresh Pond Reservation, mainly on historic paved pathways. FOCA’s Annual Winter Social is taking place on January 26th, 5:30-7:30 pm- Meet your child’s coach and other parents from the CRLS Athletic teams you love. $25 per person provides drinks and hors d’oeuvres, opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for some great prizes, silent auctions items and all your generosity supports CRLS Athletes and their coaches.
